Horseback Riding Instruction
Topic: Blogs
Whether you are a seasoned horseback rider or just beginning and need to get instruction in order to handle a horse safely and learn the things you need to know to ride a horse and control a horse, you need someone who knows about horses and how to handle them. Some horses can get over one thousand pounds and they are very powerful animals. They have personalities of their own and have feelings just as we do. Learning the basics is not a task that you learn in ten minutes. Although you can read on how to handle a horse, the real experience comes from hands on training and instruction. There is more than just jumping on a horse and telling him to giddy-up.

Before you receive horseback riding instruction you need to learn about the equipment, how to carry the weight on the horses back, commands and much more. Horses are trained with weighted bags to allow them to get use to carrying weight, once they have accepted this, then slowly the halters, shoes, reins, saddles and other equipment are introduced to them. This is all something you should know before riding a horse. If you place too much weight on a horse where it could cause them problems, they might cause you some problems. This is where horseback riding instruction helps you with the proper area to mount a horse and how to sit on a horse the proper way without causing injury to yourself or the horse.

Once the horse has been broke or trained then you can go about teaching people how to ride. There are two basic styles of riding and riding saddles. There is English and Western style riding. The different saddles are designed to accommodate what ever needs of the horse and rider. These saddles, cinches and straps are fitted for the horse. There are also different types of bits and other tack to maintain and care for the horse and equipment. There are different types of riding gear also. You can learn all this with horseback riding instruction along with the proper clothing and gear you should wear.

When looking for horseback riding instruction you want to make sure that wherever you go they are experienced. You want the make sure that safety is first for both you and the horse. You can find equitours with people who specialize in not only riding instruction but also teach you all the techniques of riding as well as make a vacation destination and have fun. If you are just looking for some horseback riding instruction near your home there are riding stables that provide instruction near you. You can find them online, ask others, or check your local phone book. You can also check with local farms in your area or talk to some kids who are part of the 4H program. Many times, they have sponsors who have farms with horses or they board their own horses and can give you information on good horseback riding instruction near by.
